You can download and install Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 from http://www.microsoft.com/ie, which updates many Microsoft files to resolve the error 5. -or-
First, please follow these instructions to update your Microsoft Data Access Components:
1. Go to this Microsoft website:
For Windows 95, 98, NT4: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?productID=&freetext=MDAC+2.5+service+pack&DisplayLang=en
Download and install MDAC 2.5
For Windows ME, 2000, or XP: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0e1e4fae-4abe-4cf7-b522-2c4cfce25de6&DisplayLang=en
Download and install MDAC 2.6
Once there, select the English version of the file from the list, and click Download.
Choose the Save to Disk option, and at the Save As, under Save In: choose Desktop - the top choice.
After the download is complete, close all programs.
Double click the downloaded file to update your Microsoft Data Access Components.
If you are running Windows 2000, please follow these instructions to resolve a known problem with that OS:
Log into Windows as the "Administrator" of the local machine. Close all applications. Choose Start, Run, and input this command: regsvr32 "c:\program files\common files\system\ole db\oledb32.dll"
Upon clicking OK, Windows will indicate that the process succeeded. Click OK.
Restart your computer and then launch HistoryKill 2005.
If the error still persists, you will need to update your Visual Basic Run Time components in Windows:
Download vbrun60sp3.exe from and save it to your Desktop.
After downloading, close all programs on your system.
Double click the downloaded file, vbrun60sp3.exe to install.
Restart your computer and launch HistoryKill 2005.
